Your Denture Needs to Be Maintained by Daily Oral Hygiene Habits

Posted .

A complete or partial denture provided by the oral care specialist at DeFelice Dental LLC is designed to replicate your missing or compromised teeth. While the removable dental appliance is created from durable dental materials that will not succumb to tooth decay, you will still need to provide your denture with some basic oral hygiene measures.

You should thoroughly rinse your denture under running water any time you take it out. At night you should also lightly brush all the surfaces with a nonabrasive toothpaste to remove any lingering food material and plaque. Once it’s been cleaned you should soak the denture in water and store it overnight in a secure place.

Adding a basic tongue cleaning to your daily oral hygiene routine with a toothbrush or tongue scraper might also help remove plaque and bacteria to prevent bad breath.

If you have a partial denture, be sure to brush your existing teeth each morning and night and floss at least once each day. This can help preserve your basic oral health and help maintain a comfortable fit with your denture.
